The full reparation of the damage caused to the people and territories affected by the dam collapse in Brumadinho is a commitment of Vale, according to the signed court agreement.

Our company is also committed to communities and municipalities affected by emergency evacuations and preventive relocations resulting from changes in dam safety levels.

All work is guided by dialogue with people and public bodies, focusing on the joint construction of solutions that can effectively make the reparation and compensate for impacts. In this regard, since 2019, actions have been developed on the social, environmental and economic fronts.

In February 2021, the Full Reparation Agreement was signed by Vale, the Government of Minas Gerais, the Federal and State Public Prosecution Office of MG, and the Public Defender's Office of Minas Gerais. The Agreement is in execution with important advances.

Reparation Report

Since the Brumadinho dam collapse, which caused irreparable human losses, we have firmed a new pact with society. We are improving our listening skills and are committed to fully repairing the damage caused to people, communities and the environment. We have adopted rigorous international standards for dam management, created starting in 2019, and have made a commitment to eliminate all upstream dams by 2035. We have already eliminated 40 percent of them and will continue to work for sustainable mining, reducing impacts and acting transparently with society.
