Nickel

We are one of the world's largest and most carbon-efficient producers of this important metal.

Nickel is rarely used in its pure form and is instead combined with other metals such as iron, chromium and copper. It is used to make alloys such as cast iron, steel (including austenitic stainless steels) and non-ferrous alloys. It is also used in nickel-based alloys, which have more demanding applications.

The electric vehicle industry is currently increasing the demand for low-carbon and high purity nickel products, essential for long-range batteries.

Used in:

Batteries for electric vehicles, bathroom taps and shower heads, coins, mobile phones, jet engines, cutlery.
