The Company's Board of Commissioners is responsible for overseeing the Company’s management by the Board of Directors and for ensuring the Company has implemented GCG in a sustainable manner.


The Board of Commissioners is also responsible for providing assistance to the Board of Directors in determining the Company’s strategy, as well as providing suggestions, advice and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding certain issues and matters. In performing its duties and responsibilities, the Board of Commissioners shall act in an independent manner.

President Commissioner

Muhammad Rachmat Kaimuddin

Rachmat holds a BSc from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Rachmat started his career as a Senior Associate at the Boston Consulting Group. He has also served as Managing Director of PT Cardig Air Services, Chief Financial Officer of PT Bosowa Corporindo, Managing Director of PT Semen Bosowa Maros, Vice President of Baring Private Equity Asia and Principal of Quvat.

Rachmat was appointed as Commissioner at the Extraordinary GMS on June 21, 2022. Beside of that, Rahmat was a Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia since 2022 until now.

Emily Olson

Emily Olson is Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer of Vale Base Metals. Previously, she worked as Vice-President, Global Strategic Relations at Freeport-McMoRan, responsible for driving global strategic initiatives inclusive of governments, partners, and various external organizations.

Prior to joining Freeport, Emily spent nearly 15 years with BP in both the US and London, most recently as Senior Vice President for Europe and Russia managing BP’s corporate interests across the regions. She has a degree in Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago and a Masters’ Degree in International Strategy & Diplomacy from the London School of Economics.

Fabio Ferraz

Born in Sao Paulo, November 10, 1967. He has held the position of Head of Mergers And Acquisitions (M&A) and Joint Ventures, Vale S.A., since 2018 until now. Prior to joining Vale, Fabio had a long career in the banking industry which he started in 1994. He served as Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at Haitong Bank (2016-2018), Co-Head of Corporate & Investment Banking at Banco Pine (2013 -2016), and Managing Director for Investment Banking (2010-2013). Previously, he was Executive Director, Head of M&A LatAm Investment Banking at UBS Investment Banking (2000-2005).

The Brazilian national holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Fundacao Getulio Vargas (1990), and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan (1994).

Fabio was appointed as Commissioner of the Company at the Annual GMS on January 19, 2022.

Kristina Gauthier

Kristina Gauthier's career is a testament to her growth and development. Starting as a Sales Representative and Trading Assistant at Sherritt International Corporation, she rapidly ascended the professional ladder. Her journey includes roles such as Chief Internal Auditor, Vice President, and Director of Marketing at Metals Sales and Feed Procurement Company, a subsidiary of Sherritt, and culminated in her role as President of New Providence Metals Marketing Inc., another subsidiary.

At Vale Base Metals, Kristina's impact was significant. Joining as the Head of Nickel Sales West in June 2021, she immediately began making substantial contributions to the company's strategic initiatives. Her efforts were recognized when she was appointed Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in October 2023, a role in which she oversaw key aspects of the company's commercial operations and strategy.

Throughout her career, Kristina has demonstrated a strong track record in driving business growth, leading high-performing teams, and fostering strategic partnerships. Her passion for innovation, combined with deep industry knowledge, consistently delivers impactful results in complex and competitive environments, inspiring others with her forward-thinking approach.

M Jasman Panjaitan

As a former prosecutor who started his career from the bottom, Jasman has a very strong background in law. Born in 1965, Jasman served as Head of the Attorney General's Office for Legal Information (Puspenkum) in 2008 and was appointed Head of the Prosecutors' Office in two regions, Central Kalimantan and West Kalimantan in 2009 and 2011 respectively. The Doctor of Criminal Law from Padjadjaran University has also served as Acting Junior Attorney General for Supervision of the Attorney General's Office (2014-2018).

Jasman was appointed as Commissioner at the Extraordinary GMS on December 22, 2022.

Edi Permadi

Edi Permadi is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both the corporate and governmental sectors. He currently serves as Commissioner in several renowned companies, including PT Pani Bersama Jaya, PT Mitra Langgeng Prima Konstruksi, PT Pelangi Anugerah Jaya, PT Geopatra, and PT DJOIN. Additionally, Edi holds the position of President Director at PT J Resources Asia Pasifik Tbk and PT Manggala Berkat Cakrawala.

Before entering the corporate world, Edi built a strong educational background, graduating from PPSA XXI at Lemhanas RI in 2017. He has also completed various leadership programs such as the Mastering Leadership Challenge Program in Switzerland, the Chief Operational Supervisor in ESDM Minerba Jakarta, the Transformational Leadership Program at MIT Sloan USE, and the Trailblazer Leadership Program at INCO Limited Canada. With a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Indonesia, Edi possesses specialized skills in data analysis and problem-solving.

His contributions extend beyond the private sector to significant involvement in natural resource management, notably through his role as a Professional Resource Manager at Lemhanas RI.

Yusuke Niwa

Yusuke Niwa is an executive at Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM). Since Jun3 2022, Yusuke has also been serving as General Manager of Nickel Sales & Raw Material at SMM.

He has more than thirty years of experience in SMM's non-ferrous metals and materials businesses, specializing in the fields of accounting, project management and administration. He likewise held significant posts relative to the Sierra Gorda copper mine of SMM in Chile.

Mr. Niwa is also an incumbent director of the Company's affiliates, Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation, Coral Bay Nickel Corporation and Nickel Asia Holdings, Inc. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Economics from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.

Rudiantara

Rudiantara, BSc., MBA., graduated with a Bachelor degree in Statistics from the University of Padjajaran and received the Master in Business Administration from PPM School of Management.

Rudiantara has held position in many big firms in Indonesia. In 1995, he was appointed as Director of Sales in Telkomsel, before he joined PT Excelcomindo Tbk when it was established in 1996 and took the company listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange. He was then appointed as the Deputy CEO of Semen Gresik/Indonesia, the largest publicly listed cement company in ASEAN before he was appointed as the Deputy CEO of PT PLN (Persero), a state-owned power generation and transmission-distribution company.

He was appointed as the Minister of Communications and Informatics for the period of 2014 – 2019 and successfully reposition role of regulator to become a facilitator and an accelerator particularly in technology start up and unicorn development system, as well as structuring Public Private Partnership for national broadband backbone connectivity and Hight Throughput Satellite projects with total availability payment more than US$ 4 billion.

He served as Independent Commissioner and Chairman of Audit Committee of PT Telkom Tbk from 2010 to 2012, Independent Commissioner and member of Governance and Remuneration Committee of PT Indosat Ooredoo Tbk from 2012 to 2014 and in the same period he also served as President Commissioner of PT Raja Tbk, as well as the CEO of BATR and President Commissioner of Rajawali Asia Resources. He has been the President Commissioner of GMM, an infrastructure and digital application and media company since 2019; CEO of Gtech Indonesia, a digital company in supply chain management of retail – FMCC section in Indonesia since early 2020; and Managing Director of Gtech Asia Pacific Pte, a digital company in supply chain management of retail – FMCG sector in Asia since early 2020.

Rudiantara served as the Chairman of Board of Trustee at the University of Padjajaran, Member of Patronage Council of Indonesia Heritage Foundation and Chairman of Next Indonesia Unicorn Foundation.

Raden Sukhyar

Dr. R. Sukhyar received his Bachelor Degree in Geology Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). In 1990 he obtained his Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Earth Science from Monash University – Melbourne, Australia.

In 1981 he joined to Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR). From 1998 until 1999, he assumed as Director of Volcanology, before he was assigned as Secretary of Directorate General of Geology and Mineral Resources. In 2005 he was assigned as Assistant to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for Communication and Information Affairs. In 2008 he was appointed as Head of Geological Agency, MEMR. He was assigned as Director General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources from 2013 until 2015. He is now assigned as an assistant to the Minister of Industry for Metal, Natural Gas and Natural Resources Affairs.

From 2002 until 2008 he was appointed as Commissioner of PT. Timah Tbk and as Commissioner of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy from 2005 until 2009. From 2012 until 2015 he was appointed as President Commissioner of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk.

In 1991 he received Lasut Charter Award from Indonesia Geologists Association. In 2009 he was awarded Merit Medal for Working Dedication (Wirakarya) by President of Republic of Indonesia. In 2011 he was entitled Energy and Mineral Resources Extra-Ordinary Performance (Dharma Karya) by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. In 2012 he gained Ultimate Service Performance Star (Bintang Jasa Utama) by the President of the Republic of Indonesia. He has also Geothermal Medal of Legacy from Geothermal Education of ITB.

Dr. R Sukhyar was in charge in strategic policy making such as the chairman of Mineral and Coal Mining Bill Drafting which then became Law on Mineral and Coal Mining No.4/2009; chairman of Geothermal Bill Drafting which then became Law on Geothermal No.27/2003 and chairman of Working Group for Coal and Mineral Added Value Policy. He is now a member of Working Group of Energy and Mineral Resources, National Committee for Economy and Industry (KEIN).

Dr. R. Sukhyar was appointed as World Bank consultant for Energy, Mineral Resources and Industry in early 2020 and also acting as the Chairman of Indonesia Smelters and Mineral Processing Association. He was acting as an adviser to the Minister of Industry on Natural Resources bades Industry from 2016 until 2019 and was an adviser in several professional and education organizations such as Indonesia Geothermal Association (IGA), Indonesia Geologists Association (IAGI), Indonesia Soil Scientists Association (HATI), Indonesia Mining Professional Association (PERHAPI) and Magister Geothermal Education of ITB. He chaired the Steering Committee of Cooperating Committee for Geoscience Programs in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) from 2010-2013, and now as the Honorary Advisor of this organization. He is also adviser for The Association of Mining and Energy Provincial Offices.

Marita Alisjahbana

Marita Alisjahbana is one of Indonesia's most senior risk management experts with over 30 years of international experience across many Indonesian and world economic cycles.

Her risk management experience includes country, corporate and improvement risk management as a Country Risk Manager in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. Through many economic cycles, she was the Head of Improvement for Citibank Indonesia after the Asian Financial Crisis and its Country Risk Manager through the Great Financial Crisis.

Marita has held pivotal roles as the Country and Corporate Risk Manager for Citibank Indonesia for 15 years and as the Chief Risk Officer at the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Indonesia's Sovereign Wealth Fund. In these roles, she led the team in upholding world-class governance, transparency, risk management, and ESG standards for all assets and transactions.
