Brazil
Salobo Mine in Marabá, in southeastern Pará, is classified as a world-class copper deposit. It has reserves of 1.15 billion metric tons of copper ore. The site encompasses an open-pit mine and processing facilities. The ore is taken by road to a highway terminal in Parauapebas, Pará. Thanks to the Salobo III project, the site’s annual output is set to increase 50%, from 24 to 36 million metric tons.
