We make various efforts to ensure the fulfillment of human rights in all aspects of our operations.

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk's human rights policy also refers to Vale SA's policy.

Human Rights is one of the critical milestones for us in running a sustainable business. We strive to ensure that all activities are carried out with respect for human rights, both for the community and workers. We respect human rights through responsible environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies to support sustainable and low-carbon economic growth.

Commitment and Achievements on Human Rights

PT Vale is committed to implementing sustainable mining principles in managing ESG, which refer to global frameworks, namely the International Council on Mining and Metals Sustainable Development Framework (ICMM), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Corporate Social Responsibility ISO 26000 and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System.

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk has also adopted Vale S.A. policies by harmonizing the provisions of the laws and regulations in force in Indonesia. We implement those policies through the Company's Code of Conduct (CoC). We ensure that all points in the CoC have complied with the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Representing PT Vale's commitment to respecting human rights, the Company has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

Throughout 2022, we have provided training on law and human rights, including for 407 members of the security forces. In terms of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI), PT Vale continues to strive to increase the number of female workers. In 2022, the number of female workers will increase to 8.7% from 8.6% in the previous year. The company targets the growth of female workers to 18% in 2030.

These efforts are in line with the company's goal of improving the quality of life and changing the future together with stakeholders.

Therefore, we provide space for values and appreciation towards diversity, equality and inclusion. We have determined this in the Diversity and Inclusion Charter, which contains the Company's 5 commitments.

PT Vale also provides a channel to report violations, which opens for employees, contractors and all elements of society. The channel, which we call the Vale Whistleblower Channel (VWC), can be accessed through the following link. Incoming reports will be immediately processed by the Vale S.A. Code of Ethics and Conduct. We guarantee the confidentiality of identity and protect the rights of individual reporters.

We implement policies and practices to prevent bribery and corruption through the Anti-Corruption Program in the Vale Code of Conduct, and exclude political contributions in any form to anyone.

We implement strict monitoring with Key Performance Indicators (KPI), as a measurable assessment of the sustainability performance of the Directors and other company officials.

Throughout 2022, we socialize the anti-corruption program through various activities and training for employee entities at PT Vale. We instill the values of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) or good corporate governance.

PT Vale won the Best Rights of Shareholders award from the 13th IICD Corporate Governance Award on 27 May 2022. This achievement cannot be separated from the implementation of the Company's GCG.
