Vale's CEO returns to Brumadinho and strengthens focus on humanitarian aid

Fabio Schvartsman emphasized Vale's intention to speed up payment of out-of-court compensation

Today, February 6, Vale's CEO Fabio Schvartsman visited the company's headquarters in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and flew over the city of Brumadinho to monitor the works and guide employees who are implementing the emergency measures proposed after the breach of Dam I in the Córrego do Feijão mine.

"We expect to reach an agreement with the authorities as quickly as possible to expedite the payment of out-of-court compensation," said the CEO, after meeting with leaders and employees at the Belo Horizonte unit. "Our goal is to help alleviate the pain of those who have been victimized by this accident."

During the visit, the executives in charge of the Immediate Response Group updated the CEO on the progress of the work fronts supporting the rescue efforts, assistance to the affected people, and environmental containment and recovery actions. These actions have mobilized a total of 400 employees.  "It's impossible not to be touched by the dedication, hard work and courage of the people here," he emphasized.
