Updates on preventive measures in the region of Macacos (Minas Gerais)
Among the measures taken are assistance and support to families of the Macacos community
Assistance
Vale will continue providing all support and assistance to the families of the Macacos community, in the city of Nova Lima, until the situation stabilizes. The company has provided accommodation, food, transportation, medicines and basic need items, and has a multidisciplinary team composed of psychologists, social assistants and physicians at the help centers, the Macacos Community Center, in two hostels located in Macacos, and in two hotels in Belo Horizonte.
Access
After a meeting on Monday (February 18), the State and Municipal Civil Defense and the Military Police decided to reopen access between the Capela Velha district and Macacos from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm. Access to Macacos via AMG160 will also be allowed during the same hours, in a stop-and-go scheme.
The Military Police will oversee the transportation of residents, to be arranged and provided by Vale.
Transport
Vale is providing transportation (vans and cars) for students who live in Macacos and study in Nova Lima and for residents who commute between Macacos and Belo Horizonte. Check out schedules and itineraries:
