Farmers receive water for irrigation, human and animal consumption

5.1 million liters of water have been supplied so far

Vale is supplying water for human consumption, animal watering and irrigation to rural producers carrying out activities in nine municipalities. Until last Tuesday (February 12), approximately 5.1 million liters of water had been provided.

The service covers the towns of Brumadinho, Florestal, Mario Campos, São Joaquim de Bicas, Betim, Igarapé, São José da Varginha, Pará de Minas and Esmeraldas.

It is intended for people affected by the breach of Dam I in Brumadinho, more specifically farmers and families mapped by Vale, the Department of Agriculture of Brumadinho and by EMATER (Empresa de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural), a state public company in Brazil to implement the state government's agricultural policy and provide technical assistance to farmers.

Producers who wish to apply for the service must contact Vale through the following helpline numbers: 0800 031 0831 (Hello Brumadinho), 0800 285 7000 (Hello Railroads) and 0800 821 5000 (Vale's Ethics and Conduct Office), (21) 3485-6632 (Water Center, which accepts collect calls). You can also get information in person at Vale's Help Centers or by email: abastecimento.agua@vale.com

Vale is monitoring the quality of water in 48 different points and reinforces that it will take all appropriate measures to ensure water supply for human consumption and agricultural activities.
